While looking for wines for our upcoming Italian wine dinner, I came across a couple of terrific finds. The Caggiano Fiano d'Avellina Bechar 2011 from Campania is absolutely delicous. It has floral and mineral notes both in the bouquet and on the palate. Although it is rich and complex, with peach and apricot flavors, it is well-balanced, with a clean, crisp finish. This wine would be great with grilled fish, or a rich lobster dish.
The Terre Nere Etna Rosso 2011 from Sicily is a very elegant wine. Although it is a light-bodied red, it is very complex, with flavors of cherries, herbs and licorice. Silky and smooth, I would love this with roasted duck or pork.
